From the base of Washington's Mount Stuart comes the rich and rare blue-veined cheese, Mount Stu Blue, made from a small herd of French Alpine goats, whose bloodline originated in the Alps mountain range. They were brought to the United States from France and were selected for their quality of milk production. The Alpine goat is known for being a hardier, more adaptable breed that thrives in any climate while also maintaining good health and excellent production. Alpines are observed in many different colors and color combinations and exist in patterns ranging from pure white through shades of gray, brown, black, rust and other color combinations. The Alpine doe is typically at least 30 inches tall and weigh around 135 pounds / 61 kilograms, and can produce up to 2.5 gallons / 9.5 liters of milk per day.
